What is a Pinterest Story Pin?

Pinterest is beta-testing multimedia pins called Story Pins. They are compiled in a series and include more read-able content than a typical pin. Think of them as Pinterest’s attempt at combining video, images, and text into one piece of content, like you can already create on TikTok or Instagram Reels/Stories.

Anything that’s highly visual, shows progression/change, or something that’s step-by-step would fit well as a Story Pin. (But let’s be honest, you can make anything fit this mold, you content creator, you! ;))

How can you use Pinterest Story Pins?

Pinterest provides a list of what they think Story Pins are best for, including collections, guides, how-to’s, recipes, etc. They’re created directly in the Pinterest app, where you can add text overlays, but you can prep the photos/video beforehand to upload.

Why should you us Pinterest Story Pins?

Pinterest is putting these at the TOP of your Pinterest profile, and they’re garnering more engagement. I just posted one a few hours ago, and it already has over 100 impressions, 1 share, and 1 click. Can you repurpose content to make Pinterest Story Pins?

Of course! This is the name of the game, and you should be to save you time! Just make sure to adjust the content you’re including (text) as needed per platform. Pinterest Story Pins have the same aspect ratio as IG Stories.

Tips

Story Pins don’t seem to include a direct link like typical pins, so make sure you get creative with your opening and closing slides, as well as your content. Include mention of your website/a CTA in each!
