Don’t Miss These Important Steps in Your Website Setup

Hi friends! I get it! All the things behind the website like creating Google Analytics, Tag Manager, or Search Console account and setting each up accordingly up are not necessarily the most exciting parts of marketing.

But these foundational steps are just as important (if not more important) to the success of your business, especially as you scale and need to prioritize your time (ie. do more of what’s working and less of what’s not!).

So let’s jump in. The first step is to set all of these tools things up, and understand how they work together.

I’ve rounded up all of the direct links with instructions below (because nobody can explain it better than each platform). After you’ve set them up, make sure to check out my next post on starting to use each platform to its fullest. I provide a quick and easy checklist of items you don’t want to miss on your website setup.

Setup Google Analytics and Social Pixels for Your Site

First things first, why is it important to use Google Analytics?

Iff a client ever wants to start spending money on advertising, I always recommend that they have two things set up first, before they start spending money: audiences building for retargeting, and conversion goals! It’s super important to getting the most for your dollar.

Once you setup Google Analytics to fit your site and goals, it will help you track performance. You’ll be able to see (through the data!) what’s working well and what isn’t, and what you should do more of.

One of my favorite things is to see which channels are bringing in the most qualified, most engaged audience. If you ever plan to do any testing, having Google Analytics and your tracking URL system is also important!

What can Google Analytics tell you?

Analytics can tell you what people are doing on your site, who is converting, how users found your site, which content they are engaging with most, and how users are moving around your site (potentially revealing where they get stuck or are looking for more). So many things! It can also help you build unique audiences to then target via advertising.

Is Google Analytics free?

Yes! Pretty much everything you would need to start out, plus integrations with Google Ads, Search Console, etc. is completely free! Setting up Google tracking URLs is also free.

After this, you’re ready to setup Google Analytics on your website.

The best thing to do is to set this up via Tag Manager. Learn more here.

(There are alternative, quick ways to setup if you use ShowIt or Squarespace, but I promise, setting up Tag Manager is going to help you in so many more ways.)
